Let me begin with the disclaimer that the three authors are friends and colleagues. That means that if this were a book worth skipping, you would have never seen this review. But, I knew before I ever cracked the cover that the book would be just as worthy as it proved to be, because I intimately know the excellent work that all three of these historians regularly produce.
