Clay Stauffer, senior minister of Woodmont Christian Church
(DOC) in Nashville, Tennessee, is the 2011 recipient of the Fred Craddock Award for Excellence in Preaching.
Stauffer received the award during the July 11 11 AM worship service at Woodmont, at which Dr. Craddock was preaching.
Stauffer took the helm as senior minister of Woodmont in 2007 at the age of 27, becoming the youngest pastor ever to lead the church. A fourth-generation Disciples of Christ pastor, Stauffer followed the path of his father, grandfather and great-grandfather. The Craddock award is given to Disciples ministers age 35 and under who exhibit excellence in sermon content and delivery. The award is presented annually by Disciples of Christ Historical Society and the Craddock Center
. This year's award was given during the General Assembly of Disciples meeting in Nashville, Tennessee.
