Disciples of Christ Historical Society announces the launch of ALEX, the online library and archives catalog. You can access this new search feature at www.discipleshistory.org.
ALEX allows users to search for materials in the Historical Society’s vast holdings on the Stone-Campbell heritage’s history. This new site features a single search box, similar to the Google search process, for ease of use in addition to an Advanced Search option for more defined usage. Offering this one stop shopping for all types of materials at the Historical Society ALEX provides the most convenient access to books, pamphlets, periodicals, audio/visual materials, photographs, microfilm, congregational records, archives and documents.
Searches on ALEX automatically display results of relevant DCHS holdings first followed by WorldCat libraries worldwide for easy location of material. With this unique merge of searching users can find desired items at the Society or a WorldCat library near their home.
ALEX features tools for organization and offers networking to allow users to share lists, reviews, rating and expertise with other patrons and Society staff. Also part of the new site is the capability for users to save relevant items to personal, shareable lists.
The Disciples of Christ Historical Society will be updating the site regularly in order to expand the items available so visit often for updates.
