Journeys In Faith
An online oral history project, Journeys in Faith is open to participation by all members of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ). In this initiative, individuals are prompted to recall and share their personal memories of growing up in the church. DCHS collects, catalogues and presents these recollections online, in the members own words. "It's our hope that we'll build a rich body of personal experience that collectively illuminate our life as a church," said DCHS Vice-President Sara Harwell.
"As far as we can tell", said Dr. Carson, "Journeys In Faith is the first attempt by a denomination to collect the personal histories of its members in this fashion. We're leveraging the power of the Internet to accomplish something that couldn't be done in any other way."
Virtual Tour of Thomas W. Phillips Memorial Building
"Most people will never be able to come to Nashville to experience the Archives," said Dr. Carson, "yet, we have a great story to tell all members of the denomination. The Phillips Memorial (recently placed on the National Register of Historic Places) is a shining example of that history. We want to be able to share it with as many as possible." The virtual tour highlights the large inventory of intricate stained glass windows and stone carvings surrounding the building.
Online Bookstore
The great stories of the Stone-Campbell Movement and the history of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) are told in a variety of printed volumes. These works are now available for purchase through DCHS's new online bookstore.
