New DVD Project Slated for Fall Release

An exciting new documentary, Watermark: Stone-Campbell in the 21st Century, will be released this fall. This projects features some of the brightest voices from many churches associated with the Stone-Campbell heritage.

Watermark is directed by Jerry L. Jackson, a feature writer/producer/director known for his award-winning work on Wrestling With God. His resume also includes documentaries like Partners In The Journey and the upcoming The Calling as well as music videos. In addition, Jackson is an Elder in the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) and an active member of the Writers Guild of America.

The production of Watermark: Stone-Campbell in the 21st Century has been taken on by Water’s Edge Communications. Water’s Edge has been telling compelling stories on film and video for decades and seeks to use the visual arts in a range of media to reach a broad spectrum of people.

Watermark: Stone-Campbell in the 21st Century shows how our American history of faith is relevant to people, congregations and various denominations. The voices in the documentary pose significant questions in regards to the diversity of the world now and how it relates to the past. The project also focuses on how the Church can move forward and carry on the progress that has been made.

“This is a conversation that’s happening in every church in the country today: How do we institutionally provide spiritual relevance across the rich cultural diversity of 21st Century America? How do we define ourselves? How do we build community? The answers will be very thought provoking.” promises Jackson.

Many scholars, witnesses and advocates who study the movement are participating in the examination and analysis for Watermark: Stone-Campbell in the 21st Century. Among the many views in this unique collaboration are Dr. Cynthia Hale, Senior Pastor of Ray of Hope Christian Church in Decatur, Ga.; Dr. Sharon Watkins, General Minister and President of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ); and Dr. Douglas Foster, Professor of Church History at Abilene Christian University and general editor of the Stone-Campbell World History Project.

This project is sponsored in part by Disciples of Christ Historical Society. Additional funding is underway. If you’d like to support this project or for more information or to pre-order your copy of Watermark: Stone-Campbell in the 21st Century visit www.waters-edge-comm.com/stonecampbell.
