From the President

January 6, 2010

I can see her in my mind’s eye: seven years old, pony-tail and pink tennis shoes. Chelsea had come with her grandparents to the Historical Society and she stood, head back, gazing up at all the photos adorning our Stone-Campbell timeline.

With more than 200 years of history to tell and only six panels to tell it in, to say that our timeline is an overview is an understatement.

Still, we put in as many faces as we could.  And there was Chelsea almost in a trance as she looked from one photo to the next. It was fun just to stand and watch her.

“So, what do you think?”  She had not seen me walk up beside her.

“What?” she asked.

“Our history,” I said, “what do you think?”

“All these people,” Chelsea said. “I think they’re wonderful.”

Well, I have to agree with Chelsea. I think that people of faith, people who dedicate themselves to the cause of Christ, people who tell our story – those are wonderful people.

You might not have your face on the timeline, but I have a suspicion that Chelsea would think you’re wonderful just the same.
