The President’s Desk

For me, keeping up with our history includes the upkeep of our historic building. We are blessed to call the Thomas W. Phillips Memorial Archives home and enjoy welcoming guests from all around the world to its beautiful spaces. And all this beauty requires constant care. That’s why we are renewing the inside room by room and why we have already done so much work outside.

Our next major project will be adding an All Persons, or handicap, access at our front door. We are grateful to the Theodore and Beulah Beasley Foundation for a grant for this project. We also need your help. The cost for our All Persons Access will be almost $300,000. I believe that everything we do is worthy of your support, but this is certainly one of our most urgent needs. Will you send your gift right away?

Peace,
glenn

Naming Honors Couple’s Service

At its annual meeting last November, the Board voted to name our Reading Room in honor of Evelyn and Hal Watkins. This move is in tribute to their lives of service throughout the Church. Hal is best known for his leadership of Church Extension and Evelyn is a past Board member of the Society.

The room will be completely refurbished and we expect a dedication in early 2010. Please help us honor these two Disciples by sending your gift today. Write “Reading Room” on the memo line of your check.
