The 2006 Forrest Reed Lecture, "The Public Role of Mainline Protestanism" was held April 3, 2006 at Christian Theological Seminary in Indianapolis, Indiana.

Dr. Robert Wuthnow, Director of the Center for the Study of Religion at Princeton University, spoke on issues raised in his book, The Quiet Hand of God. Wuthnow is renowned for his ground-breaking studies and insightful analysis of religion in American life. In this lecture he will speak on the public role of Mainline Protestantism in a context of disestablishment, pluralism, and Evangelical ascendancy.

Dr. Wuthnow is Andlinger Professor of Sociology and the director of the Center for the Study of Religion at Princeton University, where he has taught since 1976. He is the author of more than 20 books, including most recently, America and the Challenges of Religious Diversity. He has also received numerous grants and awards, including the Martin Marty Award for Religion and Public Life.
